How to buy Bitcoin Cash
Plain-English walkthrough, in about 30 minutes total. No price predictions, no "best time to buy" nonsense — just the five steps that matter.
This is general information, not investment advice. Crypto markets are volatile, rules differ by country, and taxes apply. Only allocate what you can afford to lose and check local regulations before transacting.
Steps
Step 1
Pick a reputable exchange
For Bitcoin Cash, pick a regulated centralised exchange that operates in your country. Check licensing (FinCEN MSB in the US, MiCA / FCA in the EU/UK), trading-volume transparency, and cold-storage disclosures. Avoid venues without a mailing address or a founding team on the record.
Step 2
Complete KYC
Create an account with your real name, upload a government-issued ID and a proof of address. Verification typically takes 10 minutes to a few hours. Enable two-factor authentication (authenticator app, not SMS) before funding.
Step 3
Fund the account
Deposit fiat via bank transfer (cheapest) or card (faster, higher fees). Some exchanges support SEPA in the EU, ACH/Wise in the US, or local rails elsewhere. Start with a small amount to confirm the whole flow works for your bank.
Step 4
Place a BCH order
Search for the BCH/USD, BCH/USDT or BCH/EUR pair. Market orders fill immediately at the going rate; limit orders fill only at or better than the price you set. For a first purchase, a small market order is the simplest path.
Step 5
Move to self-custody (optional but recommended)
Once you’ve accumulated a position worth holding, withdraw BCH to a wallet you control. Hardware wallets (Ledger, Trezor) are the conservative choice; mobile wallets are fine for smaller balances. "Not your keys, not your coins" still holds.
Exchanges where BCH trades
These are widely-used centralised exchanges that list BCH. Availability and fees change frequently — confirm on the venue’s own site before funding. Links below go to the exchange directly.
