Shiba Inu FAQ
- What is Shiba Inu?
- Shiba Inu (SHIB) is an ERC-20 memecoin launched in August 2020 by an anonymous founder known as Ryoshi. It's often described as a 'Dogecoin killer' and built a devoted community around a token ecosystem (BONE, LEASH) plus Shibarium, its Ethereum L2.
- What is Shibarium?
- Shibarium is the SHIB ecosystem Layer 2, launched in August 2023. It uses Polygon-style proof-of-stake, targets low fees for SHIB-native dApps, and burns BONE/SHIB on each transaction as a deflationary mechanism.
- What is the SHIB burn?
- The community burns SHIB to reduce circulating supply — partly through Shibarium gas consumption, partly through direct wallet sends to a burn address. The absolute amounts are small against the ~590T supply; more narrative than economic pressure.
- Is SHIB a good investment?
- TheChainPost does not give investment advice. SHIB is a memecoin — price is driven almost entirely by sentiment and social-media velocity. Drawdowns of 80%+ have happened repeatedly. Only allocate what you can afford to lose.
This is general information, not investment advice. Markets are volatile and rules vary by jurisdiction — consult a qualified advisor before making decisions.
