What is Sui?
Sui (SUI) is a proof-of-stake Layer 1 launched May 2023 by Mysten Labs, built by former Meta Diem engineers. It uses the Move programming language (fork of Diem Move) and an object-centric data model, which lets most transactions execute in parallel.
How is Sui different from Solana?
Both target high throughput. Sui uses object-based parallel execution (transactions that touch different objects never conflict); Solana uses optimistic parallelism with runtime conflict resolution. Sui finality is sub-second via consensus only on contested transactions (Narwhal/Bullshark).
What can you do on Sui?
DeFi (Cetus, Navi, Suilend), NFTs and memecoins, gaming (SuiPlay, Aftermath), and a growing stablecoin market. Object-based assets make composable gaming/NFT mechanics easier than on UTXO or account-model chains.
Can I stake SUI?
Yes. Delegation is native — pick a validator in any SUI wallet and delegate any amount. Rewards distribute each epoch (roughly 24 hours) with no lockup other than the epoch boundary itself.
