Chainlink vs Uniswap FAQ

What is Chainlink?
Chainlink (LINK) is the largest decentralised oracle network, launched in 2017. Oracles feed real-world data (prices, weather, match scores, cross-chain state) into smart contracts, since blockchains cannot fetch external data natively.
What is LINK used for?
LINK pays node operators for oracle reports, secures stake on nodes via Chainlink Staking, and is the unit of account for Chainlink Services (CCIP cross-chain, Proof of Reserve, VRF randomness, and Data Feeds).
What is Uniswap?
Uniswap is a decentralised exchange launched 2018 by Hayden Adams, pioneering the automated market maker (AMM) model. UNI is the governance token, airdropped to early users in September 2020. It gives holders voting power over the Uniswap DAO treasury and protocol parameters.
Where does Uniswap run?
Uniswap V3 and V4 are live on Ethereum mainnet and every major L2 (Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, Polygon) plus several non-EVM chains via Uniswap X. V4 introduced "hooks" — customisable pool logic — enabling dynamic fees, on-chain limit orders, and MEV capture at the pool level.
How do Chainlink and Uniswap compare?
Chainlink (LINK): Largest decentralised oracle network. CCIP cross-chain + data feeds. Launched 2017, runs Oracle network (not a blockchain). Uniswap (UNI): Largest AMM DEX token. Governance-only; V4 hooks unlock custom pool logic. Launched 2018, runs Ethereum (ERC-20) + multi-chain deployment.
