Coinbase-incubated Base is rolling out an MCP gateway that connects AI interfaces such as Claude and ChatGPT to actions on the Base blockchain.
The Block reports that the integration lets users use natural language prompts for on-chain tasks. In practice, that means prompts can trigger token swaps, transfers of funds, and interaction with Base apps. The key change is not another wallet UI. It is an AI-facing gateway that translates chat input into blockchain actions.
Why it matters
People already used bots and scripts to move assets on-chain. This shifts the interface layer. Instead of building a transaction flow, users supply instructions in natural language and an MCP-linked client handles the rest.
That can reduce friction. It also widens the gap between intent and execution. Natural language is messy. If the gateway or the client misinterprets a prompt, the user still pays the on-chain cost. And once a prompt can route swaps and transfers, the “wrong interpretation” problem becomes a direct asset-risk problem.
