North Korean-linked hackers allegedly stole $577M from DRIFT and Kelp DAO, according to a CoinDesk report cited by Coinotag.
The report frames the incident as a major slice of the year’s breach activity, saying the attackers accounted for 76% of 2026 hacks. It also lists several tactics, including social engineering, nonce manipulation, and RPC poisoning.
DRIFT also took a market hit after the hack. Coinotag’s text says DRIFT was delisted from Upbit and Bithumb.
For now, the available details focus on methods and downstream listing changes rather than a full blow-by-blow of the stolen funds flow. Investors and users of DRIFT and Kelp DAO assets face the usual asset-risk reality: incidents like this can reshape liquidity, custody assumptions, and operational risk without guaranteeing recovery.
