Ownership & funding
TheChainPost is independently owned and operated by Dmitri Averjanov, the publisher and sole proprietor. There are no outside investors, no parent company, and no third-party editorial control. The newsroom is funded by display advertising (Google AdSense, later Ezoic / Raptive), affiliate commissions on educational and exchange content, and reader subscriptions to the newsletter once paid tiers exist. No advertiser, exchange, or protocol pays for editorial coverage; revenue partners are disclosed individually on the affiliate disclosure.
Editorial independence
Editorial decisions are made by the desk and the desk alone. Advertisers, sponsors, and affiliate partners do not influence what we cover, how we frame it, or when stories run. Sponsored content, when it exists, is unambiguously labeled and never appears as news. We do not coordinate coverage with any exchange, project, or PR firm. Owner-held positions material to a story are disclosed in that story.
Editorial standards
Sourcing, verification, bylines, anonymous sources, and the overall reporting bar live on the dedicated editorial standards page. In short: every story traces to a primary source, every byline is a real human, every claim is cross-checked before publication.
Ethics & conflicts of interest
The newsroom does not actively trade the assets it covers. Long-term holdings unrelated to a given story are permitted but disclosed when material. We do not accept gifts above nominal value from sources, exchanges, or projects. We do not pay for tips. We do not publish on speculation. The full ethics framework lives under section 6 of the editorial standards.
Corrections
When we get it wrong, we correct it prominently and note what changed. Substantive edits carry a dated correction line at the top of the story. Procedure, escalation contacts, and the public log live on the corrections page.
Diversity & representation
We aim for source diversity (regulators across jurisdictions, protocols across families, founders across geographies and backgrounds) and for hiring practices that reflect the global character of the cryptocurrency space. We do not publish coverage that is demographically narrow by default; the desk actively widens its source list when a beat becomes monolithic. Hiring is open and equal-opportunity regardless of nationality, gender, or background.
