Kraken has set up a warehouse facility with Maple Finance to supply USDC to its OTC lending business. Maple's lenders will back a revolving credit line that feeds stablecoin liquidity into Kraken's direct borrowing operations, according to The Block.

The structure slots Maple lenders into the capital chain between Kraken's OTC desk and its borrowers. Maple pools capital from its own depositors, which then flows through the warehouse agreement to Kraken's loan book. That arrangement lets Kraken tap onchain funding without tapping exchange reserves or raising capital separately.

Maple operates as a lending protocol where depositors earn yield by funding loans. In this case, Kraken becomes the direct borrower from the Maple facility, and the exchange's OTC clients become the secondary borrowers downstream. The warehouse model lets Maple lenders deploy capital into Kraken's loan portfolio without having to vet individual OTC counterparties themselves. Kraken handles credit decisions; Maple's lenders trust Kraken's underwriting.

The deal sits in a broader market for onchain lending infrastructure. Institutional lenders and exchanges have increasingly used DeFi protocols to access liquidity or move funding onchain, sidestepping traditional finance friction. Maple has positioned itself as a venue for institutional-grade borrowing, with past facilities backing Euler Finance and other protocols. This Kraken warehouse is similar in shape, though Kraken's OTC operation is its own business line, not a protocol.

For Kraken, the warehouse supplies a dedicated funding source without forcing the exchange to warehouse capital internally or renegotiate bank relationships. Maple's existing depositors get exposure to Kraken's credit, and Kraken gains access to a pool of onchain capital willing to lend at protocol-defined terms.

No terms were disclosed. The Block did not report whether the facility caps the credit line, what interest rates apply, or what collateral or covenants govern the relationship. Kraken and Maple did not respond to requests for detail. Without those specifics, the scale and risk profile of the facility remain unclear.
